Mission Jamaica

Members of Our Savior’s have joined groups from other churches in Jamaica, providing medical care, helping residents build homes, and joining them in worship and work. Two trips are currently being coordinated for 2015. More information below:

Trip B

            Saturday January 10 to Sat Jan 17

Cost: $1965 per person-double occupancy

            Covers meals, Hotel and Transportation

            Work Sites: Montego Bay Area

                        J’Bode-Home Building

West Haven Children’s Home-working with the kids, home improvement.


 Trip C

        Saturday January 17 to Sat Jan 25

Cost: ~$1955 per person-double occupancy

            Covers Hotel, Transportation, but not meals while in Kingston (first 5 days)

            Work Sites: Kingston Area

Calalloo Mews-pre-school renovation, breakfast program

 Hope Valley-school renovation, classroom help

Medical Clinic-patient intake, med education

            Sat-Wed stay at the Knutsford Hotel in Kingston

Wed-Sat return to Sunset Beach Montego Bay for R&R. Meals are included here.

General: All flights leave Minneapolis at 6am on Saturday and return at 5pm Saturday.

4 hour direct flight on Sun Country Airlines to Montego Bay.  You must have a Passport.

Sunday is a day of worship(and some work) with the people of Jamaica.  Devotions are daily at 5:30 pm.

Most mornings begin at 7am breakfast and 8am off to jobsites.  Thursday and Friday are Rest & Relaxation days.  Saturdays are travel days.


We brought 4 extra suitcases, each with 50# of donations for the children at Westhaven this past January.  We have one filled suitcase already, and may be able to carry a couple more suitcases in 2015.  We will ask the congregation for their generous help in acquiring supplies again.



$25/person refundable deposit to reserve air is due by June 10, 2014

(I have sent in this amount for everyone already.)

Non-refundable deadline date to release any unneeded seats is Sept 11th, 2014

(If you decide that you cannot go, you will get your money back up to this date)

$150/person nonrefundable deposit to reserve hotel is due by Oct 1st, 2014

$550/person nonrefundable deposit is due Oct 22nd, 2014

Remaining balance for our team will be due in the MJ office Nov 13, 2014

I will send in one check for the entire group prior to each of the above due dates.  If you want to make other arrangements such as paying in full, or credit cards please talk with Paige at the Mission Jamaica office, or to me-Bob Rutka.


We will have at least 2 meetings prior to leaving.  One in the Fall and the other near the first of the new year to discuss concerns, logistics and other preparations.

Several people have expressed an interest for 2015.
