April 2018 WELCA Update

April WELCA News:

Our Laurentian Spring Gathering is at Messiah Lutheran Church April 14th.  The there will be a speaker from the Foyer Youth Shelter and Tammy Walhoff who will be speaking about Advocacy in the areas of Hunger-Poverty-Climate.  Registration will begin at 8:30. The Gathering starts at 9:30 and ends at 2:30.  There is a lunch for $7.  We need to RSVP by April 6th.  Call the office to register.  We will let Messiah know how many would have children in the nursery they will have available and the number of women planning to attend.  This should be a very interesting and informative day.

The WELCA Summer Convention is June 4th-6th. We are looking for women between the ages of 18-45 to apply for a scholarship to the convention.  Applications will available in the church office.  They need to be in by May 1st.  If you would like to be a delegate to the convention let anyone on the board know.  We are continuing to collect items for the layettes.

We will be continuing to hand out the Love Offering envelops to those who haven’t received one yet.

I would like to thank all those donated and/or helped the Lenten Soup supper.  A special thanks to Meagan and her confirmation youth who worked hard on the clean-up.

The WELCA board is going to vote on the recommendation to change our fiscal year from September 1st-August 31st to January 1st-December 31st.  We are considering this change because it is felt that we will have a more accurate picture of our finances.  If has any comments please let one of the board members know. We now have Financial Giving Receipts for those who would like to have a record of their giving to WELCA

We are continuing to work on organizing a Bold Café Sunday coffee group.
