Members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church have joined others from various churches in Minnesota and surrounding states to serve in Jamaica. We provide medical care, help residents build homes, and join them in worship and work.
J’ABODE (formerly Habitat for Humanity) – There’s always work to be done for housing. Mission Jamaica missionaries help make simple, decent and affordable housing a reality for families that are in the greatest need.
What we do-Dig footings, pour concrete and tie steel. The focus in Jamaica is to build 16’x20’ one room homes or add-ons to existing homes. We work side by side with future new owners and the community.
In January of 2018 we had over 20 people go to Jamaica to continue in the work of building homes, and also assist with in care of children at an area orphanage. This Mission continues to be a big part of OSLC, and the congregants’ lives.
If you are interested in going you may speak with Bob Rutka about joining next year’s team! No matter your skill level, there will be something exciting for you to take part of!

Women at Our Savior’s are active in the Women of the ELCA (WELCA) at local, regional and national levels, participating in ministries that benefit children, families, communities and other women.
Worldwide relief support
Our quilters meet weekly (during the fall, winter, and spring months) in the Our Savior’s fellowship hall to sew quilts shipped worldwide for relief efforts at natural disaster sites and other emergency situations. We easily ship more than 300 quilts a year! Everyone is welcome, no sewing experience is necessary.
Infants and children
WELCA women at Our Savior’s also gather and pack emergency kits used in ELCA mission work worldwide. These include layette kits and nursery kits for mothers of newborns and infants, school kits for the work of Lutheran World Relief, and collecting and distributing school supplies for local children.
Ministering to one another
All women at Our Savior’s are invited to participate in Circles. These small groups of women gather monthly for Bible study and fellowship at church or in people’s homes. Meeting days and times vary to fit everyone’s schedule, check the calendar for one that fits yours.
The annual WELCA Birthday Party celebrates your special day, no matter what date your birthday is. Homemade cakes, fun and games, and a hilarious skit are just some of the evening’s festivities. Consider this your invitation!
Faith Finders (Formally C.O.W) is an innovative Christian educational after school program for children in Kindergarten-5th grade.
We will resume quilting in the Fellowship Hall on Wednesday, September 5th, 8am-2pm!
The OSLC Quilting Group meets every Wednesday from 8:00am to about 2:00 pm during the year, and we take a break for the summer (May 16, 2018 – early September).
Come when you can, leave when you must… no sewing experience necessary! Always coffee on and a pot luck lunch. We sew quilts for Lutheran World Relief, local shelters, The Youth Corridor housing, for families who have lost their houses to fire, baby quilts for the County nurses to distribute as needed, to families who are lucky enough to have new Habitat housing. To name a few. None of the ladies wanted their faces in the pictures so I took pictures with the tools of their trade. It is a very important ministry with the OSLC women, we distribute as many as 300 plus quilts from September to May. We take a brief break in December and then meet occasionally in the Summer to sort and organize for the next quilting year.
