WELCA Woven Stars Class – Nov. 19

froebel_M079WELCA of OSLC invite ALL ladies (and girls!) to a special “Make It, Take It” class, led by Shelley Svatos Thurs. Nov. 19 at 7pm. The OSLC sanctuary is decorated each December with these beautiful paper ornaments. We invite you to come and learn how to make some for your own Christmas tree! All supplies will be provided free of charge, though everyone is asked to bring their own scissors. CHILD CARE WILL BE PROVIDED!

A free will offering will be taken to support the Polaris Project, an anti-trafficking organization and partner of the Women of the ELCA (http://www.polarisproject.org/ and http://www.womenoftheelca.org/special-initiatives-pages-45.php). “Polaris is a leader in the global fight to eradicate modern slavery. Named after the North Star that guided slaves to freedom in the U.S., Polaris systemically disrupts the human trafficking networks that rob human beings of their lives and their freedom.” So the stars you create will help guide today’s victims and support efforts to end the human trafficking industry locally and all over the world.

Registrations are requested but not required. Email Amanda at office@OSLCmn.com to sign up. We hope you can join us! Invite your friends!

Four generations of women came to church together in early November. Chris Culbert, her mother, daughters and granddaughters joined in worship. Chris and her daughters are long-time OSLC members; all are passing along their Lutheran traditions to their daughters. We welcome their family, and all families!

Women of the ELCA (WELCA)

Women at Our Savior’s are active in the Women of the ELCA (WELCA) at local, regional and national levels, participating in ministries that benefit children, families, communities and other women.

Worldwide relief support

Quilting

Our quilters meet weekly in the Our Savior’s fellowship hall to sew quilts shipped worldwide for relief efforts at natural disaster sites and other emergency situations. Everyone is welcome, no sewing experience is necessary.

Infants and children

WELCA women at Our Savior’s also gather and pack emergency kits used in ELCA mission work worldwide. These include layettes for mothers of newborns and infants, school kits for the work of Lutheran World Relief, and collecting and distributing school supplies for local children.

Ministering to one another

Circles

All women at Our Savior’s are invited to participate in Circles. These small groups of women gather monthly for Bible study and fellowship at church or in people’s homes. Meeting days and times vary to fit everyone’s schedule, check the calendar for one that fits yours.

Birthday bash

The annual WELCA Birthday Party celebrates your special day, no matter what date your birthday is. Homemade cakes, fun and games, and a hilarious skit are just some of the evening’s festivities. Consider this your invitation!
