Youth hit New Orleans

They have arrived! The 8-person group (6 teens, 2 adults) attending the National Youth Gathering have been on the Mississippi Gulf Coast for a few days. They worked on a hurricane-damaged home in Biloxi before rolling into New Orleans for opening worship on July 18.

ELCA National Youth Gathering

The 2012 ELCA National Youth Gathering will be in New Orleans.

Reilly Green, Lucas King, Aaron Malopolski, Alyssa Monticello, Garrett Ongalo, Steven Simensen and adult leaders Mary Green and Kristi Ongalo will represent Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

They leave on Friday, July 13th.

Wish them well and pray for them. And consider donating granola bars, crystal light packets or other snacks for their trip.

Land of the Loon Parking Help

Enjoy the sunshine and being with your friends by helping park cars at the Land of the Loon Festival in Virginia.

We need your help on Saturday, June 16th and Sunday, June 17th.

Money raised will go to OSLC youth. Kids from 5 to 95 are welcome.

Come on in to the church and sign up in the narthex.


Graduate Sunday – May 13

The four high school graduates who are members of OSLC — all young women — were recognized during worship on Graduate Sunday, May 13. The ladies received a gift from the congregation, and here honored during coffee an’ afterwards. Congratulations to Claire Schumacher, recipient of the 2012 Our Savior’s scholarship.

First Communion Class

First Communion Class for elementary school age children will be held on Sunday, May 13th at 9am. Pastor Bob leads the class. Parents are welcome. The children’s 1st Communion will be during the service on May 20th.

Last day of Sunday School April 29

Sunday school wraps up for this spring on Sunday, April 29. Class runs from 9:00 – 9:45 am in the west wing of the church — just follow the sound of kids singing! The Sunday School staff wishes all students a safe, fun-filled summer. Watch for more information about summer Bible School, and we’ll see you at Sunday School again in the fall.

Confirmation families, take note! Our final three Wednesdays this year are as follows:

April 18 – 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.    Grades 6-9 at Gethsemane. Special guest – Bishop Tom Aitken

April 25 – 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.    Drama Night!! Grades 6-8 at Gethsemane. (NO class for 9th graders)

May 2 – 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.       Year-end party! All grades meet at Gethsemane.
