Amid the busyness of this beautiful season, we hope you can join us for this interactive and reflective worship service! All are invited! As we prepare for the coming of Christ, may we find time for prayer, find time for peace, leave the busyness behind us, and reach out to one another in love.
Confirmation students and their families are especially encouraged to attend in lieu of Confirmation class that evening. We will follow worship with a celebration of cookies and hot chocolate in the fellowship hall.
What an amazing night at the NE MN Synod Middle School Gathering! We had so much fun growing together in faith as we worshiped, played, and studied the 10 Commandments together. During check-in time we listed swimming, “Growing in Grace” GIG’s, Pastor Mike’s message, basketball, family time, and “getting to know each other better” as highlights of the trip! We thank the LYO Board and leaders for putting together such an wonderful event! Click here to view more photos!
Thank you to everyone who joined us at Inter-generational Sunday School this week! We had so much fun working together to decorate pumpkins and exercising our creative muscles after worship! Each table decorated a pumpkin (or two!), running around to different tables to beg, borrow, and bargain for different materials and supplies. The pumpkins were so creative and innovative and it was fun to see the collaboration across different generations. Click here to view more pictures!
We had so much fun at Camp Vermilion last Saturday, volunteering with the Confirmation Class from Gethsemane Lutheran Church! Together we built 2 new ball boxes, dug new trenches to divert water on the hill, bud-capped a hill of pines, and enjoyed the fall colors, the lake, and Gaga Ball! Thank you to Andy and Grant for hosting us and to Kai for preparing a delicious lunch for us! Such a beautiful day working and playing in God’s great northwoods! Click here to view more photos!
Last night Confirmation students and families from across the entire Laurentian Conference (more than 240 people!) gathered together at our church for a powerful message and moving gospel music. We thank Grammy award-winning Gospel singer Billy Steele and Pastor Mike Carlson (confirmed right here at OSLC in 1984 and currently serving as Sr. Pastor at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi, MN) and for sharing their time, gifts, and message with us! What an incredible evening! Click here to view more photos!
All are welcome to join us this Wednesday, Sept. 16, 6:30-8pm for an evening of faith, worship, and inspiration featuring Grammy-award winning Gospel singer Billy Steele and Pastor Mike Carlson from St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church in Mahtomedi. What a beautiful day! This Sunday we welcomed Pastor David to our church and celebrated the ministries of congregation in a Rally Sunday Carnival outside! Thank you to the many musicians and volunteers who helped lead us in worship, set up the tables and tent, brought snacks to share, and took everything down at the end of the day!
During the week of July 19, six Our Savior’s senior high students partook in a four-night trek into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. Accompanied by Youth and Family Director Meagan Esterby and guided by Steve Sorenson of Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry, Tucker Nelson, Garrett Ongalo, Katelyn LeBeque, David Wildes, Anders Braaten, and Summer Toole paddled and portaged approximately forty miles. The route took them north from the Echo Trail through the Upper Chain, making a loop through Lac la Croix. Despite battling bugs, wind, and beaver dams, the group all had an amazing experience connecting with the Lord and each other, all while learning about exploring in God’s Great Northwoods.

The Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry Day Camp program is designed to introduce the Bible camping experience to youth of the congregation. It is a unique blend of outdoor ministry and congregational ministry. The VLM staff brings to the week their own enthusiasm and leadership/teaching style, which local volunteers enhance with similar gifts as well as knowledge of the community needs and resources. Together we make Day Camp an exciting and enriching experience.
We will conclude on Thursday evening with a Parent Program, asking Day Camp participants to share with parents and other members of the congregation what happened during the week of Day Camp. The program will include songs and overview of each day’s Bible study, as well as any special skits or projects the campers would like to share.
We look forward to this new adventure with you and your family!
We are CALLED TO CARE! What an amazing week of laughter and learning as we explored our faith together! (Click here to view more photos from the week!)
At this Dr. Seuss-themed VBS we explored stories from the Bible and from Dr. Seuss, and talked about how God is calling us to care….to care about creation, the lonely and the outcast, ourselves, our neighbors, and the world! Each day began with a fun warm-up game, worship, Bible Study, an all-church game, and a snack and craft. Then each afternoon the kids chose between different craft and athletic options, ending together in a closing “campfire”. On our final day we even built a real campfire and roasted s’mores!
Thank you to the kids who came, to the volunteers who shared their time and energy, and to the skilled and generous cooks who provided a snack and lunch each day! The entire church (and backyard!) was full of laughter and energy. May we carry this excitement with us each day as we go out into the world and remember that we are CALLED TO CARE!
