Women of the ELCA (WELCA)

Women at Our Savior’s are active in the Women of the ELCA (WELCA) at local, regional and national levels, participating in ministries that benefit children, families, communities and other women.

Worldwide relief support

 Quilting

A quilting group meets weekly in the Our Savior’s fellowship hall to sew quilts shipped worldwide for relief efforts at natural disaster sites and other emergency situations. In 2010, these ladies made XXX quilts. Everyone is welcome to work on quilts, and no sewing experience is necessary. Plus, it’s a time of good fellowship, coffee and treats!

 Infants and children

WELCA women at Our Savior’s also gather and pack a variety of emergency kits also used in ELCA mission work worldwide. These include layettes for mothers of newborns and infants, school kits for the work of Lutheran World Relief, and collecting and distributing school supplies for local children.

Ministering to one another

 Circles

All women at Our Savior’s are invited to participate in “Circles” – a ministry concept unique to the ELCA. These small groups of women gather monthly for Bible study and fellowship at church or in people’s homes. Meeting days and times vary to fit everyone’s schedule.
